Frequently Asked Questions

May sprouted rye drops be taken with meals?

For best results, sprouted rye drops should not be taken with meals and not before a quarter of an hour before or after food and drink. The standard dose is 3 drops under the tongue for approx. 3 minutes three times a day and eventually once before bedtime if one is not producing too much mucus. If a lot of mucus contributes to increased degrees of blockage, it is better to delay taking the drops before bedtime until it improves and breathing improves.

Can I talk or sing while the sprouted rye drops are under my tongue?

Not really. The fastest result is achieved when the drops can rest and work in peace under the tongue for approx. 3 minutes until they are swallowed or spat out.

May I use the sprouted rye drops even if I am taking medicines?

Yes, but be aware that the medicines will have a greater effect along with the drops. Contact a doctor if you are in doubt.

May I take the rye drops with blood-thinning medicines such as Maravan, and the like?

Yes, but exercise caution. Experience shows that thinned blood flows faster when you take sprouted rye drops because the effect of the medicines increases. Contact a doctor if you are in doubt.

Do sprouted rye drops have side effects?

No known side effects or allergic reactions have been reported regarding the active ingredients in the sprouted rye, where gluten has been removed and pollen has not developed. Contact a doctor if you are in any doubt.

How long must I use the sprouted rye drops before I see results?

As opposed to most herbal medicines, you don’t have to wait several months before you see results. Oralmat begins to work right after you take it and the results are noticed in hours or days. The results can be temporary discomfort but this is sometimes necessary to get the process underway. If you notice that you become too short of breath and/or that more mucus comes up than you are comfortable with, an adjustment can be easily made by taking fewer sprouted rye drops than recommended, or using anti-inflammatory drugs such as Atrovent, Ventoline, etc in combination with it. When you are ”over the worst” – and mucus continues to come to the throat and breathing goes alright, the Oralmat doses must exceed the medication doses in order to become symptom-free and eventually well or well enough to live a normal life.

May I stop taking sprouted rye drops when I feel well enough?

You can try. It takes 2-3 years to strengthen the immune defense system optimally. After illness, it can take a longer time. With optimal immune defense one is often not receptive to allergy, colds, influenza and other complaints of the airways.

May infants use Oralmat?

Yes, infants and babies get good results from Oralmat.

The first week with Oralmat, I felt l disimproved before noticing an improvement in week 2. What caused this and is it normal?

It is quite normal for people with a great deal of mucus production or those who are short of breath, but it does not apply to everyone. The “disimprovement’ is in fact a sign of health that the cure is working as it’s intended to. It is due to the accumulated mucus, the alleviation has created that loosens from the walls of the airways. The shorter of breath one is, the more mucus has built up whether it is in the lower airways and doesn’t produce noticeable mucus or whether it is in the upper airways and produces noticeable mucus, the Oralmat cure will get it to loosen, after which it will trickle to the throat and be broken down in the stomach. If one has a great deal of mucus (quite blocked), the mucus can separate out in the throat and some of it can end up in the nose. This can feel like a heavy cold, but is just mucus that presses on it and will soon give way. The process can be accelerated by drinking large amounts of lukewarm water between the drop intakes. This thins out the mucus, reduces the blockedness and makes it easier to bring it up to the throat.

Also, be aware that an attack of dizziness may occur when the mucus is replaced by a sudden stream of air into the lungs. Stop any hyperventilation, and breathe calmly in (deep breath) and breathe slowly out. Repeat until the dizziness passes and then breathe normally. During large amounts of mucus secretion, one should stay at rest to avoid falls due to dizziness.

What causes shortness of breath?

Shortness of breath is owing to blocked airways (bacteria, mucus, fungus) and starts in the lower airways. This means one can easily suffer from shortness of breath without mucus problems. When the blockage reaches the upper airways, the mucus is not far away from the gullet. With COPD, the lung capacity is also reduced by emphysema, which makes conditions for respiration even more restricted.

Why do the lungs produce mucus?

It is caused by an inflammatory reaction that trigger when bacteria and other external pollution enter the airways. The mucus' task is to capture the 'foreign substances' and lead them to the gullet to be broken down in the stomach. When the bacteria are rendered harmless, the lungs stop producing mucus. Substances which can't be broken down, keep inflammation and mucus production going, a condition known as bronchitis or chronic inflammation. The condition is kept at bay with symptom alleviation. Symptom alleviation turn the natural inflammation into a state of chronic inflammation and can in the long term contribute to increased mucus, shortness of breath, increased energy loss, lung infection, cancer, side effects and premature death.

Do I have to use sprouted rye drops all my life?

Oralmat may be used all your life according to requirement or perhaps you have built up such a strong resistance that you can manage without the drops? You know best yourself. It takes 2-3 years to build up the immune defense system optimally. After illness, it can take longer.

What is the difference between alleviation of symptoms and disease management?

There is no difference. Symptom alleviation is the same as disease management, the disease being the source of the symptoms. In case of the medical treatment of asthma and COPD, symptoms are treated with immune suppressive drugs while there are no drugs to treat the disease itself. It's obviously much more lucrative to treat the symptoms than the source of the symptoms! This doesn't mean that the disease is incurable as the state maintains. It just means that the disease can't be cured with drugs. It comes without saying that If you want to become well from a disease, the disease must be treated, not the symptoms. They become weaker or disappear by themselves when the disease subsides or disappears altogether.
